Miss Southwest Kansas Pageant will be held in Ulysses at Kepley School Auditorium at 7 p.m. This is a preliminary pageant for the Miss Kansas Pageant

January 22
Historian Leo Oliva will begin a discussion series, "Let's Talk About It: Making Sense of the American Civil War," from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Kinsley Public Library208 E. Eighth St., Kinsley, Edwards County. This will be the first of five monthly conversations on the Civil War to be held at the library. Subsequent dates are February 12, March 11, April 15 and May 6. The discussion series is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Assn.

KINSLEY
January 29-February 25
The Eighteenth Annual Western Kansas Scholastic Art (WKSA) Competition and Exhibition will be on view at the Stauth Memorial Museum of Montezuma, Kansas. This exhibition will include approximately 250 art works of all kinds; photography, sculpture, metals, glass, drawings, paintings, ceramics, graphics and much more. 5 American Vision will be awarded for best of show, 50 Gold Key and 50 Silver Key winners plus over 150 Merit Award winners will be displayed. The exhibition will culminate with an Awards Ceremony/Closing Reception for the winning students Sunday, February 25, 2012 at the Stauth Memorial Museum Community Room.
